It's happening!  For the first time in five years, regional tournament bridge play is coming back to Rochester.  Mark your calendars now - for September 3rd to the 8th, 2024 - as we will have six days of gold points to be earned.  (It may be hard to beat our turnout in 2019, but we're doing everything we can to try to match [or even better] that very successful tournament.)

This year's tournament schedule is an ambitious one, with something for everyone.  There will be team games and pair games every day of the week, along with Mini-Soloway style knockouts (these are two Swiss team qualifying matches the first day, so you're guaranteed two sessions of play on day 1). The Mini-Soloway events pay the MOST gold points at an open regional.  We've got Gold Rush games every day for the Advancing Players, and a really sparkling I/N program featuring some of our best local speakers and teachers.

Everything is happening at the Empire Event Center, which is connected to the Rochester Best Western Hotel.  It's all on one floor, and super conveniently located at the intersection of Highways 52 and East 14.  (Right across the freeway from Apache Mall.)  You can click on the official flyer to your right - which enlarges it and opens it in a new window - to view or print.  Then get your partnerships together and plan your post-Labor Day week to include some bridge (and FUN) in Rochester.  Note that rooms at the host hotel are 35% OFF if you reserve before August 20th, and there's TONS of free parking at the venue.

You won't find a better example of Midwestern hospitality at the Med City Regional.  Our hospitality desk features prizes for those who finish first in their events; we've got convention card stickers (if you collect those); player labels available (so you don't have to write your name on event slips each time); coffee cups for the winners, and more.  In the playing area, we will have lots of coffee and of course water available, with some lunches in between session for purchase.  And if your morning hands discussion is to be taken off-site - there are (literally) dozens of conveniently located eateries within 10 minutes of the playing area.  The map to the left shows the Empire Event Center, along with lots of eateries (so you can make your plans now and in advance!).  Click on the image to the left to enlarge it in a new window.

Not travelling to Rochester this year to get your gold points?  No problem - we have you covered!  Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm, we'll have two-session online pairs events for the Open crowd and Gold Rush players.  These online BBO games have the same entry fee and masterpoint ratings as if they were in person - and are only allowed for District 14 (Upper Midwest) players.  It's a terrific opportunity to earn some gold points without the drive, and it's also a third session during the day for those who just can't get enough!
